Fight For Faith

This message invites us into a powerful exploration of spiritual authority and what it means to stand firm when life feels completely out of control. Drawing from Luke 10 where Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples who return amazed that demons submit to them, we discover a profound truth: our authority doesn't come from our feelings, our preparations, or our circumstances. It comes directly from Jesus himself. The message challenges our natural tendency to cling to control like diners who pre-select their meals before arriving at the restaurant, planning every detail to maintain a sense of security. But God invites us to something deeper—to release our white-knuckled grip on our lives and trust Him completely. Through the lens of Ephesians 1 and 2, we're reminded that we're seated with Christ in heavenly places, not scrambling in the nosebleeds begging for scraps. This isn't just positional theology; it's practical power for everyday chaos. The message introduces us to becoming VIPs—Victorious, Impactful Prayers—who pray from identity rather than information, from victory rather than victimhood, and from position rather than panic. When Jesus calmed storms and raised the dead, He used His voice with authority. Similarly, our delegated authority flows through prayer that anchors first in who we are as God's children, then submits to His will rather than demanding our own. This teaching ultimately calls us to the beautiful paradox of Christian faith: we must first submit to Christ's authority before we can stand in it.
5-Day Devotional: Standing in God's Authority
Day 1: Your Identity in Christ
Your authority doesn't come from your feelings or accomplishments—it flows from your identity as God's child. Just as Jesus reminded the seventy-two disciples that their power came from Him, we must remember we're seated with Christ in heavenly places. This isn't about earning a position; it's about receiving what's already been given.
Before you tackle today's challenges, pause and declare: "I am God's son/daughter, an heir of Christ, seated in heavenly places." When the enemy whispers lies about your inadequacy, answer with the truth of whose you are. Your identity determines your authority, not your circumstances.
Day 2: Praying from Victory, Not as a Victim
Ten spies saw giants and felt like grasshoppers. Two spies saw the same giants but remembered their God was bigger. The difference was perspective rooted in God's promises.
When crisis hits, victim prayers sound like "Why does this always happen to me?" Victory prayers declare "Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world." You're not fighting for survival—you are standing in a victory already won at the cross. Today, reframe one situation through the lens of Christ's finished work.
Day 3: Submission Before Authority
The Lord's Prayer begins with "Our Father"—identity—but immediately moves to "Your kingdom come, Your will be done." Many want heaven's authority without surrendering earthly control.
What are you gripping tightly today? A relationship, career decision, health concern, or financial pressure? God invites you to loosen your grip and trust Him. Submission isn't weakness—it is the doorway to divine power. "Your kingdom come" means my kingdom goes.
Day 4: Speaking Life Through Prayer
Jesus never negotiated with storms or demons—He spoke with authority. His voice calmed chaos because He knew His source.
Your authority as a believer works similarly. Instead of shouting at circumstances, you bring them to God in prayer. You don't rebuke your bank account—you pray to Jehovah Jireh. You don't command healing—you petition the Great Physician. Speak from your seated place beside Christ and trust the One who controls every outcome.
Day 5: Letting Go to Stand Firm
Control is an illusion we cling to when we forget who is truly in charge. Standing in authority while feeling out of control is the essence of faith.
Name the thing you've been trying to control and release it to God today. Not with resignation, but with confident trust. Your timeline, your solutions, your plans—lay them down. In surrender, you discover a powerful truth: you are far more secure in God's hands than you ever were in your own.
