Light in the Darkness

In this sermon, we're invited to see the gospel through an unexpected lens - the story of Batman. Just as Gotham City is shrouded in darkness, our own lives can often feel overwhelmed by sin and despair. But the message is clear: Jesus, like Batman, walks through the darkness to lead us into light. The parallel between Batman's dramatic entrance and Christ's coming into our world is striking. It reminds us that when Jesus came, it wasn't a passive event, but a forceful intrusion of light into darkness. The scripture 'The people who walk in darkness will see a great light' (Isaiah 9:2) takes on new meaning in this context. We're challenged to recognize our own 'Gotham' - the internal struggles and sins we carry - and to understand that we can't save ourselves. Just as Batman extends his hand to rescue the trapped citizens, Jesus reaches out to each of us personally, offering not just temporary safety, but eternal life.
